Working with support from shared services, the Accounting Director partners with the Executive Director, Health Center Administrator and the leadership team establishing strategic direction supporting the community’s core values. The Accounting Director is responsible for supporting the organizations financial objectives by collecting, analyzing and consolidating financial information for monthly profit and loss statements, annual budget and audit
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Leadership
- Promotes team work within the departments, and between departments to achieve smooth operations and quality services
- Responsible for organization of the accounting department to insure proper accounting for all pertinent records.
- Hires, educates and coaches accounting staff to meet and exceed department operating standards
- Serves as a resource person for other department heads, supervisors, peers and employees. Provides training and support
- Conducts monthly staff meetings to promote open communication and employee engagement.
- Coordinates year-end activities including audits, audit schedules, cost reports, and tax and informational returns.
- Oversees submittal of all Medicare Part A and Part B billings. Monitors, reports regularly and follows up on all past due accounts.
- Monitors payroll related deposits and directs preparation and filing of returns for State, City, Federal, and FICA taxes.
- Delegates authority to supervisory staff for task details to facilitate smooth flow of information and services.
- Maintains resident business files.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- On-call 24/7. Serve as Director on Duty as required.

Accounting/Financial Analysis
- Provides timely monthly financial reporting package to ownership
- Responsible for all aspects annual audit and compliance with GAAP accounting principles
- Responsible for the General Ledgers (JE, A/R, A/P, Fixed Assets, P/L).
- Responsible for maintaining accurate Master Trust Schedules and monthly reconciliation of the Master Trust. Works cooperatively with Trustee.
- Schedules and maintains daily, weekly, biweekly, monthly, quarterly and annual routines as required.
- Directs or performs as necessary all phases of the independent living and health center billings. Processes all necessary reports.
- Prepares all journal entries, supporting schedules, and financial statements and performs analysis prior to distribution.
- Reconciles all bank accounts to the bank statements, subsidiary journals and to the general ledger. Reconciles all other balance sheet accounts regularly.
- Prepares and updates fixed asset and depreciation schedules and maintains other records for the Community.
- Ensures that all miscellaneous monies are properly handled.
- Prepares special reports upon request and regularly informs Executive Director/Administrator regarding the status of accounts and financial activity.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and the monitoring of the same as directed.
- Presents recommendations to management to improve efficiency and cost savings as appropriate.
- Calculates and processes move out, death and return of advance deposit refunds.
- Maintains sufficient funds by forecasting cash requirements and obligation

- Submits timely, accurate DSS required financial reports
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. Thorough knowledge of general accounting functions.
- Documented skills in leadership, supervision, and communication.
- Minimum of three years hands-on experience with G/L, A/P, A/R, Payroll, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience in annual audit preparation and schedules preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls required.
- Proficient in the use of business office machines, computers, spreadsheet and word processing.
- Must have a passion for providing excellent customer service.
This position also has a 15% bonus potential based on achievement of annual goals on top of the base salary of 120,000 - 140,000k.
